Arriva Midlands Ltd has announced a reduction in the number of buses and journeys on the X3 (Market Harborough - Leicester) service from Sunday 24th February 2019.
Under the new timetable, there will be only one morning peak time departure from Barnard's Way towards Market Harborough. In place of the 06:25, 07:15, 08:25 and 09:38 services there will be just one departure at 0750hrs. Journeys to Leicester from Barnard's Way are not affected.
There will be a reduction of one service in each direction at peak times from Kibworth Square. The early 0550 service will also be cancelled.
On Sundays, the 0930 service to Market Harborough and the 1750 service returning from Market Harborough are also deleted from the new timetable.
There are cuts elsewhere. Residents on the Southern Estate in Market Harborough will see their services cut by 69% from twenty-six each day to eight with none between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
The bus operator says the cuts are necessary because they are removing one vehicle from the service to reduce costs. They also say that introducing longer overall times for the route will mean fewer of their buses running late.
The MP for Harborough, Neil O'Brien is seeking a meeting with Arriva to discuss their proposals.
