A busy and well-attended meeting was held on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 when we co-opted two new councillors, Mrs Zoe Macefield and Mr Mark Newcombe. We also welcomed the youth leaders who run our weekly Youth Club at the Village Hall to discuss ideas for increasing attendance.
The budget for the next financial year was agreed. This means a modest increase of £2,360 which is just 10p a month for a council tax payer in a Band D house. It's a rise of 3.1%.
The Council decided to refurbish the small green space in Melbourne Close. This will involve erecting fencing along the boundary, pruning the trees and clearing away weeds and self-seeded shrubs. When the warm weather comes, we will re-seed the grass.
Another important matter discussed was the future ownership of the footpath between Smeeton Road and Home Close which is not a public right-of-way but a helpful short-cut for many people including residents of Morrison Court.
In May, all parish councillors must stand for re-election. Kibworth Beauchamp is represented by twelve councillors. Candidates must either be registered to vote or have lived or worked in the village for the past year. If you want to stand for election or nominate someone else, information packs will be available in March.
